Things to do in Little Rock During The Holidays

It’s the holiday season in Central Arkansas and despite how crazy this year has been, something about the holidays seems to bring out a magic that we have all been craving throughout 2020. At Arkansas Suites, we are all about helping you find the magic around your city. While this year may look a little different than the previous, there is still so much you can do to spread Christmas cheer around Little Rock.

1. Look at the Lights

If you’re looking for a good date night or something fun for the family, you can stay socially distanced and drive around looking at christmas lights. A couple  places in the area that have incredible light displays are the State Capital, and if you are up for driving about 25 minutes south, you can head over to The Saline County Court House. They are known for their lights, incredible hot chocolate, and horse drawn carriage rides. You will truly feel the magic of Christmas around you.

2. Take a Stroll Around The Rink

The Arkansas Skatium is the go-to in Little Rock for ice skating. Nothing says the holidays like sipping hot chocolate, while finding your inner figure skater on the ice. If you don’t know how to skate, there is no need to worry; Enjoy skating lessons or hit the rink running if you are already a pro.

3. Local Tree Farms

This is the year to go all out, start new traditions, and really enjoy your holiday season. Steer clear of the faux trees this year and make your way to a local Christmas tree farm.

There are a few places to choose from in Central Arkansas so load up your family and see who can spot the perfect tree first.

4. Sing Loud for All to Hear

Many people are taking the time to go back to old traditions this year. Load up your family, youth group, or a group of friends and go door to door Christmas caroling. As Buddy The Elf once told us, “the best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”

5. Make a Trip to The Capital Hotel

Enjoy all things festive with lights, garland, and ornaments at the Capital Hotel. This is a premiere holiday destination in Little Rock. Grab their award-winning eggnog from the Bar and Grill and make your way into The Grand Ballroom where you will feel like you just walked into a Winter Wonderland.

6. Visit Loblolly Creamery

No matter where your night of holiday magic leads you, make sure you fuel up on Loblolly Cremery’s hot cocoa and homemade marshmallows! You can choose from their classic cocoa, peppermint cocoa, or if you’re feeling brave try their spicy cocoa!

7. Give Back to Others

‘Tis the season to give back to those less fortunate. That is, afterall, what the holiday season is truly about. Little Rock and surrounding cities have an abundance of local nonprofits to choose from if you are wanting to get involved in the community. Check out different local nonprofits and ways to volunteer your time here.

8. Visit The Local Religious Services

If you are looking for a religious experience during the holidays, there are multiple church communities that will be doing candlelight services, live drive by Nativity Scenes, and more in the area. Here is a list of churches of all denominations.
