Why Corporate Housing Has Become Such a Big DealOctober 23, 2017
If you need to be away from home for a while, and you’re looking for temporary housing options, you must have heard about corporate housing.
The hotel experience is fine if you’re only going to be out of town for a few days, but if you’re going to be there for a few weeks, you may want to take a closer look at corporate housing.
What exactly is corporate housing?
Corporate housing refers to a fully furnished housing solution that’s available for temporary rental, usually for about 2-3 months. Apartments, townhouses, and condominiums are the usual offerings available for corporate housing, but some markets may include detached housing units as well.
Why is it referred to as corporate housing? Because initially business travelers were the main takers, as companies seeking temporary housing for employees needing to travel out of town, found corporate housing a cost effective alternative to an extended hotel stay.
Nowadays, business travelers aren’t the only ones saving by going with corporate housing. Filmmakers, nurses, medical researchers, military personnel, project managers, vacationers, and students, are among the other clients now going this route.
Why is corporate housing such a big deal?
- It’s a lot like home. If you have to travel to another city to attend to business for more than a couple days, or if you’re relocating to another city but you haven’t closed on the deal for your new home, corporate housing is a great option. You’ll have all the amenities and utilities you need, so you don’t have to worry about anything, just take along your suitcase and get settled.
- It saves money. If you have to go out of town for 3 weeks or more you could easily rack up a huge hotel bill, but you can save with corporate housing. Hotels have overheads to meet, as well as taxes and fees, so their rates are going to be much higher than those charged for corporate housing.
- It’s convenient. When you use corporate housing you can take the entire family along if you need to. There’s usually no limit to the number of adults, children, or pets that you can take along. That’s not the case if you’re staying at a hotel, because of course there’s a limit to the number of adults/ and or kids that can stay in each room, and pets are usually not welcome. You also have the choice to eat in with corporate housing, because the kitchen is fully equipped.
Many options for corporate housing also come with free Wi-Fi and local calls. Having access to free Wi-Fi is huge, when you consider that most hotels charge for this service, and if you’re going to be in town for a few weeks, it will add up. This is another reason why corporate housing has become such a big deal.
If you’re going out of town for a while, and you need a convenient, affordable place to stay, corporate housing may be the right solution for you.
